Farm to School is hosting a Golden Shovel Awards which will recognize school garden across five categories.

With just under a month before the deadline, school gardens are encouraged to enter the Florida Farm to School Golden Shovel Awards. Among the 25 school garden sites across elementary, middle and high schools in the Pasco County School District, there are bound to be some winners! The Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services’ Farm to School section is hosting the award and will recognize school gardens across five categories.

School gardens can enter in multiple categories which include Best New Garden, Best Revitalized Garden, Most Creative Learning Environment, Best Use of Produce and Longest-sustained Garden. A golden shovel will be awarded to the top primary and secondary school in each category. The deadline is April 2, 2015.
