This year\u2019s nationwide theme was \u2018Make the grade with school breakfast\u2019, highlighting the importance of consuming a nutritious breakfast daily and promoting school breakfast as a healthy option for kids. Many of the local elementary schools showed their spirit with a Superhero-themed breakfast, emphasizing the need for a balanced breakfast to bring out the super powers in all of us.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_354\" style=\"width: 634px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"http:\/\/pascostudentwellness.pasco.k12.fl.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/WZES-spiderman.girl-breakfast-1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-354\" class=\"wp-image-354 \" src=\"http:\/\/pascostudentwellness.pasco.k12.fl.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/WZES-spiderman.girl-breakfast-1.jpg\" alt=\"Lake Myrtle Elementary students eat breakfast with Spiderman!\" width=\"624\" height=\"471\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-354\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Spiderman and Spidergirl came to West Zephyrhills Elementary to power-up with a nutritious breakfast.<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Other creative activities to promote NSBW included coloring contests at several of the elementary schools, a peanut butter and jelly drive, and a National Happy Day celebration.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_352\" style=\"width: 908px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><a href=\"http:\/\/pascostudentwellness.pasco.k12.fl.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/CSRMS-staff-breakfast-1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-352\" class=\"size-full wp-image-352\" src=\"http:\/\/pascostudentwellness.pasco.k12.fl.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/CSRMS-staff-breakfast-1.jpg\" alt=\"Charles S. Rushe Middle School celebrates National Happy Day!<\/p><\/div>\n<p>According to the School Nutrition Association, 96% of members said they had increased participation in school breakfast during NSBW. During their day of promotion at Richey Elementary, participation increased from the typical 274 students consuming breakfast, to a record 353 students eating breakfast.
